Somer Simpson
VP Product, Data, Amplitude

Somer Simpson has spent nearly 30 years leading product teams and innovations at online media and tech companies, including KRD, AT&T Interactive, and Quantcast.
After starting her career in photojournalism, Somer moved into digital publishing during its infancy in 1994 where her work included leading product for US newspaper publishing group Knight Ridder, the largest US newspaper publisher at the time. While there, her innovations in digital publishing helped a local Mississippi newspaper continue delivering news to citizens after Hurricane Katrina took its paper offline in 2005. The paper’s combined print and online coverage went on to win the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service Journalism.
In 2017, her team’s innovation led to the development of the IAB Europe’s GDPR Transparency and Consent Framework and the launch of the first widely available consent solution for publishers and advertisers, Quantcast Choice, ensuring publishers were able to maintain advertising revenue with a privacy-first approach.
Following several roles in technology and communications companies, Somer joined Amplitude in 2022 where she now leads the product teams responsible for helping Data Leaders bring sanity to data chaos.
