Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this community for?
The Women In Product Community is for female and female-identifying product managers looking to grow in their careers, learn from other product managers and expand their networks. If you are a male or not in product management, you can still have access to our free resource library inside the community and we will welcome your support and allyship.
Will Women In Product still have free offerings?
Yes! Women In Product will continue to offer the majority of our services and content completely free of charge. With the changing economic landscape, as a non-profit previously dependent almost completely on donors and sponsors, we need to adjust our model to be more sustainable for the longevity of the organization.
Why are you charging for the Premium Membership
At Women In Product, our mission is to empower, connect, and advance women in our field by providing access to year-round resources, networking, and community support. Over recent years, we’ve seen that relying solely on sponsorships is not sustainable; many similar organizations have had to shut down, and we are determined to ensure that Women In Product can continue to serve our community long-term.
Our freemium model allows us to keep core offerings—like community postings, local events, resources, and our podcast—free for everyone, while premium memberships provide vital support for expanding our programs, enhancing technology, and ensuring our team can continue to serve you. Premium members gain access to exclusive live content, AMAs, career resources, networking perks, and more—designed to deliver more value than the cost of membership.
Additionally, we’re committed to supporting local community events as part of membership, making sure that members can connect at both local and global levels. If we succeed in building a sustainable model with membership, we’ll be able to reinvest any reserves back into our community, amplifying support and opportunities for all members and ensuring that Women In Product remains a thriving resource well into the future.
How does charging for membership align with your mission?
Our mission is to equip women to thrive in product management and build equitable career opportunities. To sustain this, we rely not only on sponsorships—which have become less reliable as budgets are reduced—but also on a diversified revenue model to keep our programs, events, and resources accessible year-round.
Membership fees allow us to fund and expand critical career resources, community events, and mentorship. For those unable to afford membership, we’re working with supporters and organizations to subsidize costs and offer scholarships, ensuring that all members have access to the support they need to succeed.
Ultimately, this approach strengthens our programs and allows us to continue driving our mission forward, empowering members for years to come.
I just signed up! When will I get access to the community?
Thank you for signing up! We’re so excited to welcome you. Our team reviews every new request to make sure our space stays safe, supportive, and relevant. This process typically takes 1–2 business days.
Why do you have an application process for joining?
Our goal at Women In Product is to keep the community a safe and supportive space centered around the female experience in product management. If you are not a female or female identifying in the product management industry, this may not be the right community for you. We are grateful for our allies and appreciate your support, please join us in the Ally space with resources.
Why was I denied from the Women In Product Community?
When you create an account you’ll need to attest to our community guidelines, complete your account and share that you are a female or female identifying person in product. If you do not answer all of these questions or do not fit these qualifications you will not be granted admittance into the community.
I was denied from the community, what do I do?
If you received an email letting you know that you were denied from entering the Women In Product Community, you’ll always have access to our ally spaces! If you think this is an error, please reach out to womenpm.org
I just want to register for an event, do I have to create an account?
Yes. In order to attend a Women In Product event you’ll need to create an account. There’s a couple of reasons for this. Similar to our philosophy on our online community, we want our in person and virtual events to be a safe and support space centered around the female and female identifying experience in the product management industry. In order to ensure this is the case for our events you’ll need to complete the same account creation and application process.
